    • New Icona Series - Ferrari builds a pair of a limited edition retro inspired roadsters, Monza SP1 and SP2

This is the coolest thing Ferrari has done in recent memory. Introducing the Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 roadsters. The number obviously defines the number of seats. These cars are clearly meant to be a throwback to the classic Monza racers of the 40's and 50's.

That is why there is no windshield. Ferrari developed something they are calling a Virtual Wind Shield which collects air coming in and shoots it out a narrow opening to keep it out of the driver's face. That is something that needs to be experienced to be fully understood.

These cars are powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5 liter V12. Apparently the motor is tuned to 799 horsepower which makes the V12 even more powerful than the edition in the 812 Superfast.

Speaking of which, the SP1 and SP2 will be significantly lighter than the 812 Superfast with more power. Ferrari is not saying what these carsweigh but considering they carry less weight they should be faster than the 812 Superfast before aerodynamics take over. Ferrari claims the performance is similar.

The SP1 and SP2 are part of the new Icona series which will result in limited edition cars like this Monza duo. Only 500 will be built with none coming to the USA. Zip, zilch, zero.

Government crash testing likely spoils the fun but these Monza roadsters are exactly the type of vehicles Ferrari should be building. Not everything needs to be hybrid, turbo, or faster than anything that came before it. The driving experience from the SP1 and SP2 will be unrivaled on the marketplace. These are the most exciting new Ferraris in decades.

Congratulations to those who have the $1.75+ million to pony up for one.

Can't wait to see the press cars that weigh 1,200lbs and run a low 6@200mph.
