    • Ferrari 812 Superfast hits the dagstrip going up against a McLaren 720S

Anytime you get to see a Ferrari 812 Superfast do some real world testing it's a treat. Especially against the McLaren 720S which serves as the barometer. The 812 is not expected to be as fast as the 720S as it is much heavier with less torque but it is arguably the grandest GT (Grand Tourer) for sale today.

A drag race is up first and the 812 Superfast gets a large jump. The 720S impressively reels in very quickly though.

So what does the 812 Superfast do on a dragstrip in the real world? 10.90 @ 133.50:

Not exactly as impressive as its magazine tested time would suggest. Remember, magazine times especially for Italian cars are inflated and Ferrari is the king of ringers.

The Ferrari is quite simply overmatched but manages a best of 10.8 @ 133. The McLaren is trapping 139 and that six miles per hour of trap speed is a big difference in the real world.

Obviously roll racing does not go any better for the 812 as it just gets blown away by the McLaren.

Still, the 812 is a very impressive GT with a hell of a naturally aspirated V12.
